How Cinespa Built a Home Theatre Around the Art of Unwinding - Coimbatore, India
Cinespa, the luxury home theatre brand of Mark Technologies Private Limited, has operated its showroom in Coimbatore, southern India, as a demonstration space for premium private cinema for over a decade. Its latest incarnation runs a fully AES digital signal chain, driven by the Trinnov AltitudeCI.
A Room Designed to Let Go
The name Cinespa says something deliberate. Each space the company designs, in their own words, is "thoughtfully created to help clients unwind from the pressures of professional life and reconnect with family and friends." That describes a genuine design philosophy, one that treats acoustic performance and emotional experience as the same objective pursued by different means.
That philosophy shapes how Cinespa approaches the demonstration room itself. The space is not built to impress engineers. It is built to make people feel something, and then to explain how it was done.
The Room and the System
The current cinema measures 30 ft × 18 ft × 13 ft (9,1m × 5,5m × 4m) and is large enough to support a genuinely three-dimensional sound field across multiple seating rows, and challenging enough to demand serious calibration work. Twenty-two Genelec loudspeakers are distributed across three layers: nine at ear level, seven at height, and six overhead. The Genelec monitors were retained from the previous configuration, but the AV Processor was upgraded.
When Trinnov launched multichannel AES output on the AltitudeCI, Cinespa decided to upgrade the system. The entire signal chain from the processor to the loudspeakers is now digital, with AES3 connections carrying audio directly to the Genelec inputs. There is no analogue stage between the AltitudeCI and the speakers.
System at a glance:
- Room: 30 ft (L) × 18 ft (W) × 13 ft (H)
- Processor: Trinnov AltitudeCI
- Loudspeakers: 22 Genelec (9 ear-level / 7 height / 6 overhead)
- Signal chain: fully AES3 digital from AltitudeCI to speaker inputs
- Frequency response: extended to 15 Hz, up to 130dB SPL
What the AltitudeCI Brings to the Signal Chain
The AltitudeCI was chosen for its AES3 outputs but the platform delivers more than clean connectivity.
The AltitudeCI runs Trinnov's Optimizer, which begins with a 3D microphone measurement that maps the precise position of every loudspeaker in space. From that data, the system applies phase, timing, and frequency correction across all channels simultaneously, without flattening the natural character of the speakers themselves. The Genelecs retain their sonic identity; what the Optimizer corrects is the interaction between those speakers and the room.
The result, at the scale of a 30 × 18 × 13 ft space with 22 channels, is a soundstage that behaves as a coherent field rather than a collection of discrete sources. Bass integrates across the full seating area. Imaging holds its position as objects move through space. The transition from one channel to the next is not something a listener notices, because there is no transition to notice.
How Visitors Respond
Cinespa reports a consistent pattern: visitors who arrive having experienced other demonstration rooms notice the difference immediately, including professionals who work in the industry. What they describe is not a specific technical improvement but a general perceptual shift: greater immersion, clearer dialogue, a sound field that feels continuous and stable rather than constructed.
Non-technical visitors tend to reach for a different vocabulary. The system feels more "alive," more emotionally present. That is, in a straightforward way, exactly what Cinespa is trying to achieve. A room designed to help people decompress and reconnect should produce that kind of response. The Optimizer does not create it by adding something but by removing the artefacts and discontinuities that would otherwise prevent it.
A Decade-Long Partnership
Cinespa and Trinnov have worked together for over ten years. That duration matters in a market where demonstration rooms are often rebuilt every few years and processor platforms change with each cycle. The relationship has been consistent enough to inform how Cinespa designs its systems and advises its clients, and the upgrade to the AltitudeCI is an extension of that continuity.
For Trinnov, Cinespa represents the kind of partner that makes case studies worth writing: a company with a clear point of view, a room built to high standards, and the experience to articulate what a processor does and does not contribute to the final result.
